Characteristics And History
Our Aussies have all the amazing qualities of The Australian Shepherd in a smaller package. They are a medium-sized herding dog with a sleek, athletic build and medium-length coat. Despite the Aussie name, the breed's roots trace back to Europe and eventually to the United States by way of Australia . Renowned for their intelligence, loyalty, and strong work ethic, Aussies make fantastic companions for active individuals and families. They excel in herding, dog sports, search-and-rescue, and can even serve as therapy or service dogs!
Temperment
Australian Shepherds are highly intelligent, loyal, and affectionate. They have a remarkable ability to pick up new commands and behaviors with ease! They can assess situations to come up with clever solutions making them able to adapt and solve problems during training sessions or when faced with new challenges. Australian Shepherds also have a strong desire to please their owners, and they thrive with positive reinforcement such as praise and rewards.
Genetic Health Testing and Bloodline
At Talowah Aussies, our dogs come from some of the finest bloodlines. When introducing a new pup to our program, we are meticulous in selecting breeders who share our core values. We firmly believe that genetic health is the foundation for long, healthy lives. Our Aussies are Veterinarian health checked/vaccinated regularly, with genetic testing by Orivet Paw Print Genetic and Gensol.
Care
Aussies are highly active dogs that require plenty of exercise and mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. This includes good grooming habits, training, and diet.
